Brouwersdam Stay

We loved the location, overlooking the lake. It was particularly lovely to sit outside and enjoy the views, early morning or even late at night, with all the birds around. The staff is kind. The bungalow is a bit Spartan but charming and cosy. The breakfast and dinner areas are lovely and spacious, the food was good quality and plentiful, without pretensions to be more than what it is, and served without delay, which is much appreciated. Also, we could enjoy the breakfast without being rushed well past the time to leave, and that really made us feel welcome. The little shop allows for nice clothes and gift shopping. The water sports activities are plenty and fun.

The mattresses are hard. The outdoor chairs for lounging are uncomfortable and do not allow one to actually lie down. There is no kettle or coffee maker, nor any possibility to keep cold drinks. We knew that beforehand, of course, but it was sorely missed while we were sitting outside enjoying the views. It felt like a missed opportunity to fully enjoy the place. The restaurant area is close by, sure, but the whole point of the bungalows with a view over the lake and an outside deck is to enjoy staying there, in the intimacy of one's cabin, to enjoy the place without having to socialise at the restaurant. We loved it so much, we would have liked to not leave for drinks or snacks. Or there should be a possibility to have drinks brought from the restaurant, though it closes too early. About the restaurant: since it closes early, there should be a bar service open until later. Even more because there is no fridge or kettle in the bungalows. About the breakfast: what was served was excellent, but basic. It missed the opportunity to serve local cheeses, local jams and local honey, and most of all, something sweet, like pancakes or homemade cake. It had croissants, but no other viennoiseries.

I particularly enjoyed the location. Probably I was given the best cabin, overlooking the lake: a fantastic view! The cabin is rather spartan, but it is clean and has almost everything one could want for a stay near the water and water sports. The restaurant nearby is very good, the food is tasty and the personnel serving are very kind and nice, even when they are overwhelmed with customers. Overall it was a very pleasant stay, I would definitely come back.

There is no TV in the room, but it was ok for me. The WiFi internet is not very reliable, but nowadays we all use large data plans so no big deal either. I was a bit surprised to see there is no soap nor shower gel in the bathroom, so I went out and bought them - that's not something I carry around, particularly for a 200+ Euro a night room. Again, all very small inconveniences that would not deter me for coming back.

Wir hatten ein Haus für 6 Personen (waren aber nur zu zweit), heißt 2 Stockbetten und oben 2 einzelne Betten die leider durch die geringe Deckenhöhe für Erwachsene ungeeignet sind.Wenn man im Doppelbett schlafen will muss man ein Haus für 2 buchen(war mein Fehler beim buchen)
