Shepherds Hut - Brecon Beacons

the location, the chickens, lunar the cat, the view, the outdoor kitchen, the gifted eggs, the hammock. EVERYTHING!

no shower (which is being remedied as we speak) and maybe a deckchair would have been nice, but i am splitting hairs. the main thing i didn't like was having to leave!!

It’s in a lovely little spot down a quiet country lane. The shepherds hut is perfect for an overnight if you don’t mind having no shower or fridge. We played some of the board games that had been left there. The chickens came to inspect us when we arrived, and we had some of their eggs for breakfast which was nice.

The gas cooker around the side of the hut didn’t work that well because it was windy. We got our food cooked in the end, it just took ages. The mobile signal was quite poor, but we played board games instead.

Great location, tranquil and cosy

The environment is natural and peaceful, but we went there to enjoy ourselves and have a good time. Later, a woman came to us and said, “My children are sleeping, please don’t make noise.” People pay money to stay there to relax, enjoy themselves, and spend quality time. If noise is such a problem, then why are you renting the place out to guests?

There was no book, guide, or sign anywhere explaining where the firewood or cooking pans were. We searched everywhere and could not find them. We were told there was a barbecue, but nobody mentioned that there was no wood provided. So we collected wood that we found around the area and used the pans from inside the house. Later, we were told that the firewood was actually on the side of the house and that the wood we used was not supposed to be burned, but by then it was already too late because we had already used it. We called three times and nobody answered us, yet now we are being blamed for everything. How were we supposed to know when there were no instructions, signs, or information provided anywhere? Before leaving, my girlfriend cleaned the place very carefully — she even got on her knees to clean the floors. Instead of understanding their own mistakes and lack of information, they are only blaming us.
