Imagine a beautiful house nestled in the midst of a lush green forest, surrounded by tall trees and the sounds of nature. The house is partially made of natural materials such as wood and stone, blending perfectly into the surroundings. The room is on the first floor of the house and has a balcony where you can sit and enjoy the breathtaking views of the nature. The bathroom has a shower. There is a free WiFi and free parking.
The house also has a large outdoor area, with a grill for barbecues and plenty of space for outdoor games and activities. You can go on hikes in the national park, explore the nearby streams, or simply relax in the peace and quiet of nature. This house is the perfect retreat for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
The untouched nature of the Plitvice Valleys brings absolute serenity, but also calls for an adventure of a lifetime, because the hard-working hosts have been working diligently to transform their earthly paradise into the number one Croatian destination for lovers of adrenaline challenges, in a perfectly sustainable synergy with the environment.
Drežnik Old Town is a magnificent defensive fortress from the 12th century that protected this part of Europe from the invasion of the Turks for 400 years. Due to its strategically important position, Drežnik often changed masters over the centuries, which left a mark on its walls, but 900 years later it still stands proudly as a witness to the turbulent history of this area. It is one of the few preserved historical attractions of the Plitvice Valleys that the Municipality of Rakovica has decided to protect and carefully restore. At the end of 2011, the large tower was restored, and since then the project of repairing the walls and roof of the large inner tower, as well as the remains of the defensive walls, has been underway.
Although it is not possible to explore the interior of the tower in 2021, the glade where the fort is located is part of many cycling, walking, and horseback riding trails because this place offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Korana river and the surrounding area.
The largest, oldest, and most visited Croatian national park has around two million visitors from all over the world every year. There are probably just as many reasons to visit. Due to its special geographical location and specific climate characteristics, this unique place is the scene of many natural phenomena and an incredible abundance of biodiversity. Of course, 16 crystal blue and green lakes with countless cascades and breathtaking waterfalls are always at the top of the list of reasons to come, but Plitvice Lakes National Park also delights with endless forest complexes, fascinating travertine barriers, rich flora and fauna with numerous rare and endemic species, healing mountain air, beautiful forest trails and picturesque wooden bridges. Moreover, during the year it constantly changes its luxurious attire, so every visit is like the first, no matter how many times you come back. No wonder that this piece of paradise was among the first in the world to be declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 1979.

Our exceptional hosts, who were generous and very welcoming. The apartment was new in the traditional style and had a lovely view from the balcony and comforts of a fridge, tea making facilities all perfectly clean and comfortable. We shared homemade snacks and drinks with our hosts on our arrival and had time to chat and swap stories and local knowledge. The location was 15 mins from Plitivice National Park and restaurants even closer.
We were relaxed after our long journey through scenic forests and villages on non toll roads. These roads were mainly very good (with cafes and restaurants in bigger villages) though toll roads in Croatia are excellent.

Authentic holiday Croatia was like a home away from home. A beautiful home in the country with beautiful views and a very peaceful atmosphere. There were nearby places that you could go out to eat just a short drive away. And a small supermarket and bar within walking distance. The hosts were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. And just a short drive away (12km) to the Plitvice lakes national park.
