Recently built in 2022, the property sits alongside the owner’s home on a working farm (dogs are present on the farm, but will be with the owners), and is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just outside the town of Ottery St. Mary. This cosy rural retreat offers a great base for a couple or a family looking to explore the delights of the beautiful county of Devon, and the unique experience of the deer being able to wander right up to the fence bordering the property’s garden whilst relaxing in the private hot tub.
As you enter Deer View Retreat, you will be welcomed into the entrance area with patio doors opening out into the garden, the perfect cosy spot to enjoy a mug of coffee with a good book. This then leads through to the open plan living and dining area where you can wind down and watch a film after a busy day exploring the coastline or enjoy a family meal together. Enjoy your breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen whilst taking in the far reaching views, the stag with his magnificent antlers and the ever-changing scenery. There’s also a handy utility area next door.
Discover the two stylish bedrooms and the bathroom on the first floor. The first has a double bed, the second is furnished with zip and link twin beds, and the shower room is fitted with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, toilet and sink.
The town of Ottery St. Mary has beautiful architecture and historic buildings lining the streets, backed by rural Devonshire countryside. Wander through the centre to browse independent shops and galleries or stroll along the River Otter to admire the unusual Tumbling Weir. If you’re exploring beyond the town, you’ll be close to the quintessential East Devon coastal towns and villages of Budleigh Salterton, Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Seaton. Exeter and Honiton are also within easy reach. The Southwest Coast Path is nearby and keen hikers should head to Dartmoor National Park with is just a 30-minute drive away. Wow! Love love love this place. The house is beautiful, spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable and luxurious with absolutely everything you could need..The views from the house are absolutely stunning. Debbie the owner was fabulous, she took the time everyday to chat and show my children around their beautiful farm.. we visited the cows and their calves, fed the deer carrots from the garden everyday, ate fresh eggs from the geese and hens..met all the working dogs.. it was truly an amazing stay. Debbie went above and beyond and even hauled a great big telescope for us from her own house so my son could star gaze!! We saw some gorgeous sunsets which we enjoyed fromthe fabulous hot tub. My son who is always ready to go home no matter where we holiday cried when we left and wanted to stay! The location is also perfect with so many lovely places to see. Dorset is only a 25 minutes drive away too. I would highly recommend..We could not fault the entire stay. Thank you Debbie for making it extra special… â¤ï¸ we will return!

Deer View Cottage was an idyllic and very comfortable place to spend the weekend. It is modern and very-well presented with everything you need. My husband, two boys and I loved seeing and feeding the deer and enjoyed use of the hot tub. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a relaxing time away in Devon. I had a great 40th birthday weekend there.

Deer view was a wonderful well needed rest break from our hectic lives. Booked to celebrate my 40th birthday it did not disappoint and made some fabulous memories to always treasure. The property was easy to find and the directions given by the hosts were clear and easy to follow. The hosts themselves were perfect, on hand and happy to chat but not intrusive in any way and left us to enjoy our time at the property. The property itself was breathtaking with modern contemporary chic decor. The kitchen is super modern, spacious and a joy to cook in with views looking out to the deers. Dining room was again spacious with a lovely dining bench which allowed us to enjoy meals together. A Bluetooth speaker was installed which could be played in the kitchen and dining room but didn't intrude on the lounge meaning our family with teenagers could enjoy didn't spaces within the home. The dining area opened out into the garden with spectacular views which could be enjoyed from either the patio seating, sun loungers or in the hot tub. The hot tub was an awesome feature, a really good size, easy to use and allowed you to kick back and relax with deer grazing beside you. Upstairs the bedrooms were both a good size with super comfy beds and plenty of storage space. The extra touches arrival hamper,birthday card and balloon really made it extra special we would definitely stay again!
