The Old Hat Shop is a beautiful little cottage which has been thoughtfully refurbished and we had a very cosy and comfortable stay here. The kitchen was small but fully equipped with everything we needed and the sitting room is a lovely space for relaxing in the evenings. Beds are comfy and the outdoor space is sweet. A good jumping off point for exploring the area and some good walks from the house too.
There is a bit of road noise but it was much quieter at the weekend.

Homely atmosphere of whole house, games to play, books. Didn't have the best of weather so they helped. Summerhouse in little garden would be lovely (in summer). People of Cromford very welcoming, used many of their establishments, Boat inn to name one ( recommended).
My wife and I had a little difficulty with the stair crossing to the bathroom. Not a dislike as such. Just our age !

Cosy, lovely decor, nice to have the log burner (although it was too warm to use it)! Lovely bathroom/shower. Liked having the coffee machine. Nice touch to have dog blankets, towels and treats! Location was great - close to pubs and good walks along the canal. Good local bus and train services.
Would have liked some proper mugs (instead of glass ones)! Some more cutlery would be good!

Host was helpful & accommodating
Parking was hit & miss, on the road outside, very busy popular spaces.
The house was old and had stone floors which weren’t the cleanest so wasn’t great for our baby son.
The stairs were so steep, almost dangerous so I’d be careful if taking youngsters/ elderly guests with you.
The main road is super busy and extremely noisy so take ear plugs for bedtime.
Avoid if you are wanting to cook a large meal/ Christmas meal, the kitchen is TINY and is not sufficient to cook a substantial meal.
