Very friendly welcome to this little motel in Mercer. We had driven from Bay of Islands, and this was a convenient south of Auckland. Great Gastro Pub attached to motel, not cheap but very tasty food. Room small, but clean & well appointed.
Conveniently close to highway… I feared a little too close! But traffic quieted down early, and actually didn’t disturb us. Visually, not an appealing building, but once in the room all good.

The motel is convenient and has a great restaurant next door, as well as biltong and cheese shops. They provide a good number of towels and the kitchen is well equipped. Check in was at the restaurant and the staff there are friendly and welcoming.
The shower drain was very smelly, and the toilet was not clean. I had to scrub inside the bowl when I arrived, with a toilet brush that was old and dirty. I stay here frequently and the rooms are usually clean, but they always have a damp smell, and the shower drains are often smelly.
