Slivsø is Sønderjylland's third largest lake and habitat for an incredibly rich bird life with around 180 species, including kingfisher and sea eagle. Nearby Haderslev has a charming old town dominated by the city's impressive cathedral. Continuing south, you will come to Gråsten Castle, which is a meeting place for the royal family in the summer. Continue on to Sønderborg, the beautifully situated island of Alsen on the Flensburg Fjord. The city has much to offer, a charming waterfront with cafeteria and restaurant, Sønderborg Castle and the history center Dybbøl Banke.
