Surrounded by hills, situated on a small promontory in the Croci di Calenzano area lies Villa Le Croci, a stylish country house whose origins date back to the 17th century: it belonged to a noble Florentine family.
It has been renovated in 2011 and offers all the comforts a family or a group of friends could expect: a great panorama, a well-kept garden and a swimming pool, a cool portico perfect for a delicious meals with Tuscan products and all the most modern amenities like air conditioning, flat TVs and internet connection.
This oasis of peace surrounded by oak trees, olive trees and vineyards is ideal for relaxing walks: it will not be difficult to meet deer, hares and pheasants. Particular attention has been dedicated to the garden and to the panoramic terrace: equipped with every comfort, this area is ideal for outdoor living; the modern furniture includes tables, chairs, sofas, and a barbeque.
Under the portico lies a rectangular stylish table for 8 people where it is possible to have breakfast or lunch during the hot Tuscan summer. All around the swimming pool (14 x 7m), there are sunbeds and puff sofas.
Please note that Mugello area is a famous destination for bikers, so during weekends, you might hear motorcycles from the panoramic road at about 1.5 km away from the villa.
Interior Description
Villa Crociferi (220 sqm) has been renewed but many original decorations and materials like natural stone, beamed ceilings and terracotta roof tiles have been kept.
The furniture of the bedrooms belongs to classical Florentine art.
Ground floor: you will find a wide dining/living room with a wooden table for 8 people, a fully equipped kitchen (with microwave oven, American coffee machine and dishwasher), a thermo-fireplace, a triple bedroom (with 3 single beds) and a full bathroom with washing machine and double shower.
The living room and the bedroom have both flat TVs and are air-conditioned.
First floor: a wrought-iron scale leads you to the first floor.
There are 3 bedrooms (two doubles and one triple with 3 single beds) and 3 full bathrooms, one with bathtub and 2 with showers.
Each bedroom has its own flat TV and is air-conditioned.
Finally, outside you will find a living area under the porch with a large dining table and sofas to relax in front of the swimming pool and the solarium area.
Destinations
Located between Mugello and the metropolitan area of Florence (Prato and Pistoia), Villa Le Croci is really close to each kind of service. The village Croci di Calenzano is 1,5 km away and there is everything you need: a large supermarket (open on Sunday) and some shops.
Main Distances
Florence 20 km, Barberino del Mugello (Barberino Designer Outlet) 10 km, Autodromo del Mugello 15km, Tirrenian coast and Versilia 90 km, Siena and Chianti 95 km.
Our Opinion
Villa Crociferi is a country house which is absolutely perfect for a healthy and relaxing stay in a wonderful location immersed in green hills but really close to Florence. If you would like to get away from the daily routine you have definitely found the right place to spend your time.
This property for rent is not a hotel, agritourism, B&B or similar, and therefore by law, extra services similar to those you may find in these types of accommodations, such as a reception, concierge or security, receiving mail, provision of meals and drinks, cleaning and change of linen during your stay, and amenity kits with soaps etc. are strictly prohibited.
APE energy certification level: G 132.5 kWh/m2 per year.

Our family had a wonderful time staying at this villa. It was a beautiful oasis in the hills with a sparkling pool and every comfort you might need in the house. The hosts, Luisa and Mauricio are the epitome of Italian hospitality and perfectly walked the line between making us feel welcome and not intruding on our space. We wish we could have stayed longer.

The setting for this home was amazing, in the hills north of Florence. Communication with Louisa, the owner was good. They live just up the hill and were friendly and helpful - they also know owners of the local pizzeria in town. Pool water was too cool to swim. Outdoor seating area was a great place to wind down at the end of the day and enjoy a couple of bottles of Chianti from around the area. WiFi could have been better, but worked. Overall, we were very happy with the stay and communication. A beautiful spot.
