The Royal Oak Inn

The Royal Oak was clean , very comfortable, location is in the centre so perfect for catching local and frequent buses and getting onto the lake

There were four couples in our group celebrating my husbands 40th, we had stayed for three nights and the other three couples had stayed for two. The last couple had just checked in at 7pm - and some of were outside of our rooms laughing for possibly about 10 minutes or so ? Then one of the members of staff - im assuming the owner came and gave us a telling off as such and said - we dont usually take group bookings, keep the noise down and that they had another booking who had a little one with them, and that she didnt want a bad review... The member of staff had made a huge assumption about our group and left us feeling rather unsettled staying there for the weekend - we are all 40 year old plus and were in the lakes for some water activities and walks and half the group are non drinkers, the assumption being we were going to return at somepoint in the night loud and disruptive. Another thing to note is this was at 7pm!, they stop serving at 8.30 , close at 9pm but you can still have drinks (if we wanted to) served to your room up till 10pm - there is another inn just out the front of the royal oak which due to the location had noise and people outside up until 11pm We returned back to the inn on the evenings at 10pm on both nights - if we wanted to we could complain about the noise but due to the location we all knew this is to be expected... We also all work within the hospitality industry in one way or another and there was no need for this treatment from this member of staff.

Brilliant location providing a wonderful stay with a clean room with the most comfortable bed/ fabulous value!

Nothing at all!

Fabulous and friendly staff nothing was too much for them . Let us leave our rucksacks all day until room was ready and the whole of the next day after checking out . Room was Very clean and comfortable. The bedding and sheets were excellent .

Just the bacon needed to be cooked more but other than that nothing .
