We had an enjoyable 4 night stay over Christmas and would be pleased to return. Sadly, on this occasion, there were a few problems otherwise our rating would have been 5 stars. The welcome was warm and kind with milk, freshly baked bread Christmas nuts and decorations. All much appreciated. The cottage location is lovely. The cottage is spacious, far more so than photos suggest. Modest cooking facilities but perfectly adequate and we had a feast on Christmas Day! Bed is really comfortable. So, what niggled? We did need to use the wood burner but the door handle was broken and we had to prop closed with a log. Escaping smoke did become a problem. Unfortunately, the owners had suffered a medical emergency on arrival day and had not been able to prepare fully. We did sympathise. Hot water was rather variable and the owners struggled a little resolving timing settings to try to correct this. We don't think the extractor fan in the bathroom was functioning? Wood lice, as mentioned by an earlier reviewer? Yes, in evidence, a little disconcerting but the owners had warned us. Not a big issue for us, but others? TV signal was unstable (rural winter atmospherics?) so we used iplayer to work round this and Netflix is available if you have an account. We do hope the owners accept this as a positive review. It is a lovely little property, and if these problems could be addressed, it would be perfection. Thank you for the stay.

If you need a bit of peace & quiet to get away from a stressful life then this is the place for you. This beautiful property has all the conveniences of modern life in a charming old cottage. The view from the balcony is priceless. To sit there with your morning coffee and enjoy it is worth the 4hrs travelling to get there. There are areas that need a bit of tlc which the owners know about and I’m sure will be remedied as soon as possible. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, with suggestions for visits and eateries. Also the home baked bread and cakes were very much appreciated and delicious. We would definitely recommend Homer’s Cottage to our family and friends.
