About this apartment rental
A lovely 1.5 km drive through olive groves brings you to the private, gated entrance. The Apartment Casa Lucchese is on the ground floor, with the left-hand entrance featuring a rectangular lintel facing the garden. It is part of a six units farmhouse called 'Il Borghetto' (formerly a rural, rustic farmhouse from the 14th century) in the hills below the village of San Gennaro near Lucca. The apartment is a tasteful blend of rustic, contemporary and antique furnishings. A 5 x 12 metre swimming pool with beautifully manicured lawns is shared by the apartments and is located on the terrace above the apartment with lovely views down the valley toward Lucca.

The property also makes extensive use of hand built stone walls in keeping with the character and traditions of Tuscany.
There are two large ensuite bedrooms/bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has French doors leading out to your private sitting area. Lots of light with windows in all bedrooms and bathrooms. Great views from every room. Dedicated shared laundry room.
The location of il Borghetto in San Gennaro is superb. In the medium hills above the Lucca plain and below the historic village of San Gennaro, we offer a piece of solitude in the Tuscan hills. Views of vineyards and olive groves are offered from every vantage point on the property. The newly built property features the stones of the 14th century building that stood on this very spot. Modern inside, the apartment retains the Tuscan charm of handmade terra cotta floors and chestnut beam ceilings throughout. Dedicated shared laundry room.
It is advisable to have a car with high suspension to comfortably navigate the 500-meter country dirt road leading to the house.
Enjoy a scenic 20-minute hike up the hill to San Gennaro, where you can savour a meal at the local trattoria, Il Corno Rosso. The area is surrounded by well-marked hiking paths, maintained by the Club Alpino Italiano, offering numerous opportunities for exploration.

We loved the accommodation, the scenery, the location. Everything was tastefully renovated and overall maintenance was very good.
A big downside is that the ad mentions availability of a baby high chair but there wasnt. There was just a small baby chair to put on the table, but that was not suitable for our 1.5 year old daughter and quite dangerous.
The building was also very noisy especially from the appartements above us. There was a baby crying in the middle of the night multiple nights and after that a family who went to bed very late so that kept us awake unfortunately.

Beautiful and convenient location in Tuscany making visits to nearby cities and towns very reasonable with a car. Unit was very comfortable and easily accomdated 4 adults.

We stayed at one of the other units in this property this past summer and thoroughly enjoyed our experience - pool/privacy/amenities/etc. This new unit is equally charming. Everything feels so classically Tuscan, while still being totally new and comfortable. Good beds, linens, towels, etc. Kitchen supplied with all the necessities to cook your favorite pasta in the evening when you don't feel like going out. We were even able to entertain some friends staying nearby because the table seats eight. Jim was not only a great host, but also a knowledgable concierge. He responded quickly to our requests and was able to direct us to restaurants and sights that aren't in the tourist guides. I would highly recommend this property for a large group of friends or family because there are a number of units that can be rented together - providing together AND alone time.
