This detached stone cottage rests in Akeld near Wooler, Northumberland and can sleep four people in two bedrooms.
Tile Rouge is a pretty detached stone cottage nestled on private grounds within the village of Akeld near Wooler, Northumberland. Hosting two bedrooms including a ground-floor king-size and a twin, this property can sleep up to four guests. Bed linen and towels included in rent. The bedrooms are served by a ground-floor bathroom and a ground-floor shower room. There is a kitchen and a living/dining room. Outside there is an private garden with lawns to the rear and a communal courtyard with off-road parking to the front. Dogs welcome. Tile Rouge is a spectacular base from which to discover the true delights of Northumberland. Note: This property does not accept Sunday check ins. Note: Bookings at this property must be a minimum of 2 nights. The Cheviot Goat pub is located on site and is available to guests subject to seasonal opening hours. PLEASE NOTE: The on-site swimming pool and sauna facilities will be open for guest use from 1 April 2026.
Use of the swimming pool and sauna is available for an additional charge and must be arranged directly with the owners prior to arrival.
From 1 April 2026 pool access is charged at £42 per adult per week with shorter stays charged on a pro-rata basis.
Children under the age of 14 are not charged for pool use
The swimming pool is unsupervised and used at guests’ own risk
Children under 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times and lone swimming is not permitted for anyone under 18

This was a nice cosy cottage. Well equipped to suit most needs. The location was excellent, in the Cheviot hills, and a short drive to Kelso or Alnwick. Our only gripe was the shower, which looked like it needed some cleaning and maintenance.
