This cottage is ideally located within walking distance of this historic and pretty small market town, with pubs, shops, tea rooms and all the local amenities you will need. This well-proportioned, cosy and comfortable home is ideal for families, couples or small groups of friends. Furnished in a contemporary style, it features a large L-shaped sofa and gas fire, perfect for those cooler evenings. To the rear is a sunroom leading out to an enclosed south-facing courtyard garden, ideal for sitting out on a sunny evening.
Rothbury is a popular base for exploring the surrounding countryside by foot, cycle or car. You can visit Cragside, the beautiful National Trust property and gardens, on the outskirts of the town. The less energetic may wish to take a gentle stroll along the river and finish off at one of the friendly pubs which all serve food. The more active can trek over to the Simonside Hills or visit Kielder, which has a host of water sports. The drive along the resevoir is spectacular and the dark skies at night are a major visitor attraction.
Set on the edge of the National Park, the cottage is also ideally located for exploring the nearby villages, the Northumberland heritage coast and is only 12 miles from Alnwick, star of the Harry Potter films. You may even wish to venture to the Scottish Borders, or the friendly city of Newcastle upon Tyne, where you can explore the historic buildings and take a photo by the famous Tyne Bridge (both 30 miles away). Beach 17 miles. Pub and restaurant 800 yards.
