The ground floor offers a really social space with a large, well-equipped kitchen/dining room, perfect for a feast before a day of adventure. The living room is split in two, the first features a cosy wood burner and the second additional easy seating and the TV. It gives you a choice and flexibility depending on your mood. You also have a utility room as well as a downstairs shower room with shower cubicle and toilet.
Outside you have a delightful garden, with mature trees and flowers, garden furniture and plenty of space to kick back and relax. You’ll also find plenty of parking for three cars. Located on a quiet lane, The Retreat is on the edge of the charming village of Sunderland near Cockermouth. It gives you a fantastic base to explore The Lakes and the West Cumbrian coast, you get the best of both worlds. Its tranquil location is still well-connected, with the main A595 and A591 roads less than 2 miles away, opening up the wider reaches of the Lake District. Walks from your door can take you up the hill towards Blindcrake to discover ruins, limestone outcrops, wildlife, and stunning views of Bassenthwaite Lake. From Sunderland, you can easily access Cockermouth with its array of independent coffee shops, craft shops, restaurants and pubs serving great food and local ales. You are just 10 miles from the Solway Coast and about a 20-minute drive to Keswick with its abundance of pubs, bars, restaurants and any number of outdoor shops.
