About this house rental

Joëlle & Michel welcome you to a charming authentic 19th century winegrowers' house, carefully revisited as a comfortable holiday home, nestled in the countryside in the heart of the sublime Brionnais bocage with the famous peaceful Charolais cows as privileged neighbours. Total calm in a small rural hamlet leaning against the hillside, on a well-exposed south-west plateau, in the hollow of a magnificent preserved setting of meadows & forests. Ultra relaxing setting close to the picturesque medieval village of Semur-en-Brionnais, historic capital of Brionnais with the prestigious label "Most beautiful villages of France" & "Cluniac site" full of history (birthplace of Hugues de Semur, future Saint-Hugues founder of the Cluny abbey), rich in an exceptional heritage (remains of the 10th century medieval castle, listed Romanesque church & chapel from the 12th century, imposing 19th century priory, 18th century town hall, historic residences, etc.) as well as a splendid landscaped setting. Spacious gîte with very good comfort. Beautiful living room with a beautiful "cathedral" volume fitted out in place of the historic old vat room. Warm country character with contemporary touches enhanced by a careful heritage restoration (fireplace mantel, stone walls, frames & beams ... original). Large sheltered terrace extended by an exposed terrace open to a pleasant garden of 1800m² including a small vegetable garden (vegetables available). Large landscaped courtyard, literal natural pétanque ground! Beautiful unobstructed view of the surrounding countryside from the site. Composition: Detached house (access by mini dirt road suitable for vehicles for 30m). Wifi (fiber). Wood pellet stove + electric heating. Ground floor: living room-kitchen-lounge, 1 bedroom (double bed 140x190cm), bathroom (shower / WC), laundry room. 1st floor: mezzanine bedroom (2 single beds 90x190cm). Covered terrace + terrace + garden (1800m²) + bicycle storage + private parking. Amenities including supermarkets 3 km away. Superb landscape & site steeped in history, in the footsteps of the founder of the Cluny Abbey! Charming authentic 19th century winegrowers' house carefully restored nestled in the peace and quiet of the sublime Brionnais bocage, 2.5 km from the picturesque medieval village of Semur-en-Brionnais with the rare label "Most beautiful villages of France" and 3 km from the charming medieval & commercial town of Marcigny, "Cluny site" particularly known for its Monday morning market created in 1266 (all amenities on site including supermarkets). Total tranquility in the heart of the Brionnais countryside, nestled on the hillside between meadows & forest, in a small rural hamlet overlooking the bucolic Loire plain. Ideally located on the routes of the Romanesque churches circuit, a 55 km "Coup de Cœur" referenced cycle loop and a marked "green walk" footpath (very rich network of similar paths to explore in the surrounding area), 3 km from the greenway connected to EuroVélo6, 3 km from a 30 km "Coup de Cœur" mountain bike route and 5 km from the banks of the Loire (the last wild river in Europe protected in the "Natura 2000" zone for the quality of its ecosystem) bordered by the "quiet canal" connecting Roanne to Digoin. In the heart of the sublime territory of Charolais-Brionnais (labeled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire") - cradle of the AOC of world-renowned cattle and sheep breeds - rich in sumptuous landscapes and an exceptional historical heritage, at the crossroads of Sologne & Montagne Bourbonnaise and Pays Roannais, at the crossroads of the departments of Allier, Loire & Rhône. Ideal for exploring: 20 km from the characterful town of Charlieu (& its exceptional Romanesque Benedictine abbey), 22 km from La Clayette, 34 km from Roanne, 27 km from Paray-le-Monial, 28 km from Digoin (& its river marina linked to the Canal du Centre) and 32 km from Charolles.
