This charming newly renovated ex miners’ cottage is situated just a stone’s throw from the amazing understated Cattersty sands in Skinningrove, a friendly village offering a range of amenities including a shop and licensed cafe. It has a proud industrial heritage and is home to the Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum as well as the famous Skinningrove annual Guy Fawkes celebration.
Located just a 10-minute drive from Saltburn, less than half an hour from Whitby and on the edge of the North Yorks Moors the area is a paradise for sightseeing, as well as dogs and walkers, indeed one is spoiled for choice as to how to spend your time. The cottage is mid terrace in an elevated position overlooking the village with on street parking to the front. Furnished to a high standard it boasts a range of amenities to make your stay extra special. It has a fully equipped open plan kitchen diner with a stone floor complemented by a log burner, perfect for cosy nights in perhaps playing board games around the spacious rustic dining table. There is a utility area with toilet, sink, and washing machine plus space to leave boots and coats adjoins the kitchen diner. The separate carpeted lounge has second log burner, two comfortable settees, TV, range of books, jigsaws, and board games. Upstairs the master bedroom has a sumptuous king-sized bed with storage drawers, hanging space and mirror. The second bedroom contains chunky bunk beds suitable for adults as well as children and the cosy third has a single bed plus bedside table. The fully tiled family bathroom has a twin head shower over the bath as well as toilet and basin. There is an enclosed yard to the rear of the property with table and chairs for alfresco dining and a tap perfect for hosing down mucky boots and paws after a day well spent exploring the beautiful surroundings.
The village of Skinningrove is undiscovered by most tourists and is peaceful all year round. It is a quaint little bay, with neighbouring Cattersty Sands just a short walk away. This is a perfect choice for those looking for a tranquil beach holiday away from the crowds. Your dog is welcome to join you and will be in heaven with the fabulous walks you can enjoy together. This beach is dog friendly all year round – most of the beaches along the coastline here welcome dogs – or have sections of dog friendly areas.
