Very helpful hosts: they gave us a great welcome; had very useful local knowledge and helped with tips and guidance on places to visit.
We found the location to be an ideal base for touring Lewis and Harris. One reason we booked it was that it would be a good place to stay if the weather wasn’t too great. The weather turned out fine so we didn’t get to spend a whole day there but Shore Lodge was a great place to come back to in the evenings.

My host, Rosemary, was exceptionally thoughtful and gracious. When I arrived, I discovered a welcome platter of fruits, cheeses, charcuterie, and freshly baked bread. She checked-in with me periodically during my stay to see if I needed anything.
The property was an immaculate one-bedroom house on the seashore. The arched ceilings and windows from floor to ceiling illuminated the white interior beautifully. It was a very bright and cheery place to spend several days.
Rosemary has a no shoes in the house policy—same as I do back home—which kept the white floors sparkling clean.
I cooked most days and the kitchen was outfitted with all the necessary appliances, cutlery, cookware, and serving dishes.
The location was a 5-minute drive from Stornoway center and it was a beautiful 20-30 minute walk along the shore into town.
