About this house rental
This town house, which dates back to the 18th century or perhaps earlier, was renovated and extended by a sculptor in the early nineties, then bought by another (the present owner's wife), in 2002. It retains its character as a family home, friendly and well equipped. If you are looking for somewhere completely made over and aseptic, it is perhaps not for you! There are original oil paintings, sculptures and other works of art throughout. Also plenty of books, records and board games.
The ground floor is a garage and storage area with its own street door and is not included in the rental. The front door opens onto a flight of stairs leading a to bedroom on the left. Straight ahead is the main living area with kitchen and dining room with a ceiling of exposed beams. At the far end there is a window the width of the house which slides open and almost turns the living room into a verandah. A glass door leads onto the terrace with marble bistrot tables and a parasol. From the living area an open plan hand crafted wooden staircase leads to the upper floor. There is a large bedroom with double bed, and a smaller one with two single beds, one of which is on stilts. They share a separate toilet and a bathroom equipped with two handbasins. The downstairs bedroom has its own bathroom and access to the toilet next door, which means that no one needs to wake anyone in the night! The entire house is very practically designed and heated or cooled by reversible air conditioning, a great asset in July and August when temperatures can be in the mid 30s C°. Free street parking can usually be had at the bottom of the road, or for greater security there is an underground car park just over five minutes walk away! You can arrive on any day of the week that suits you.
