    Very friendly staff and great breakfast, could do with a face lift but still comfortable, direct walk from the train station took about 15 minutes, would stay there again.

    We regularly stay in Southport. Tried this property as reviews say “would never stay anywhere else but here”. I never leave a bad review, but I really can’t help but explain our situation. Very run down, old fashioned and outdated. I know most people only want a bed, but even the bedding looked over 20 years old. I specifically booked this trip due to health conditions and I required a bath in the bathroom. The bath was dirty with a mouldy non slip mat in. I peeled it off and it was dirty underneath it and covered in hairs. There was no hot water at all, sink or bath/shower. I tried over the course of 2 days to get hot water with no luck. Therefore, no facilities to have a wash/shower/bath. I called the receptionist who was adamant that there was hot water and I should just “let it run”. I advised her I “let it run” for hours yesterday and hours this morning, and she put the phone down on me. We had a bad nights sleep due to the room being lit up by an outdoor light beaming in to my room. The room only had see through white curtains/drapes. There was a fridge in the room with mouldy food, looked like some sort of beetroot salad. The room stunk. Towels had stains on them. We were about to check out of the room at 11:00, we just got to the bedroom door to open it and the receptionist starting pounding on the door telling us to hurry up and check out. It was 10:59 on my iPhone. On checkout she simply took my key and walked away, did not even ask how our stay was or apologise for not having any hot water. Safe to say I will not return, as there are many, many other hotels with really kind staff who go above and beyond to solve any problems or queries.
