This is a lovely property at the heart of a busy village - beautifully decorated and very homely. We hosted Christmas for our family and it made a perfect home from home. I hadn't realised that this was the owner's own home, therefore the lack of available storage caught us out a bit. If we were staying for a couple of nights, outside of Christmas, the lack of storage wouldn't have been a problem, but, 5-6 clothes hangers between five adults, over 5 days at Christmas just wasn't enough. The same was true for the kitchen. Most of the freezer and cupboards contain the owner's food, so we were a bit stuck as to where to store all of our own food. That aside, we really appreciated the owner allowing us to bring our three small dogs - there's a great park just up the road to walk them. We loved the cosy warmth of the place, the comfortable bed in the main bedroom, amazing bath, the beautiful decor and the flow of the house. I'd happily live there, it felt so instantly comfortable, and we loved the convenience of amenities nearby. And yes, there is a pub next door. For the three days of Christmas it was incredibly raucous - they clearly had a licence extension until midnight. The music did boom through the walls and there were a lot of people outside - loud but friendly. However, once Christmas was over you wouldn't even have known there was a pub there it was so quiet. There are loads of takeaways and restaurants nearby. The Indian - Shapla - I can highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fern Cottage. This place was everything I had hoped for, and more. It's very charming, and her decor is beautiful and fun. Our family of five was very comfortable in this home, and had space to spread out. We were provided with all of the amenities that we could have needed. My adult kids even had fun playing the piano in her dining room. One night, we enjoyed barbecuing and eating dinner in the adorable back patio. We also loved having the pub next door. We honeslty never heard noise or disturbances from them during our stay, and we loved the easy convenience of popping in for a drink or two. The staff & patrons were always very friendly. This cottage was also located across the street from a market. It was great that we could easily walk there for snacks & breakfast items. We were also within a short drive to Bath & Bristol. The location is honestly ideal. My only regret is that we didn't extend our trip so that we could stay a few more nights. I would absolutely return to Fern Cottage if given the opportunity.

The cottage was lovely with everything we needed. The rooms were a good size and the bathroom super. The garden was pretty and had plenty of seating and a fire-pit however there was no mention that I could see of the fact that the cottage was next door to a pub. It would have been nice to have known this in advance.
