Very cheap stay and great location minutes from the airport. Sadly no battery in the fire alarm which js a serious illegal safety hazard. No shampoo, conditioner or body wash. Sadly staff haven't filled them back up. Stains on the duvet, hairs over the duvet and pillows, very creaky floor and the access door at the rear was kept open all night which meant anyone could have gained entry. Not the best safety wise....
Would recommend if you are super on budget but good luck having a nice content sleep and clean shower. A shame really as the room itself is lovely.
Pub below is completely abandoned, no staff or lights on and almost no cctv covering any areas.

Quaint little hotel room with tea and coffee facilities … great for price … comfortable bed … when arriving the entrance to the rooms look a little questionable but the room itself was lovely!

Chose to stay a night in this place at the last minute, desperate to catch a flight early next morning out of Stansted. I normally read reviews and do my research before choosing an accommodation, but skipped the process this time and paid the price.
This hotel left much to be desired. First and foremost, the building is unlocked at all hours, and the hotel is only manned until 10pm, after which there is no staff on-site and yet the building is accessible to anyone, guest and stranger alike. The guest rooms themselves each have a safety box for access to the key, but this is the only thing separating a customer from the outside world. This is extremely questionable and unsafe, especially for lone or foreign travelers.
Secondly, the communication and customer service could be vastly improved. Once the booking went through, a WhatsApp number is given to the guest. However, I sent a query early in the day to the Hotel, only for it to be completely ignored and, many hours later, was only spammed with another generic text about the hotel's information which was received during the initial booking - failing to answer my question. I immediately asked my question again, and it was never answered. No apologies came through via text either, for failing to communicate despite providing this number for customer use.
I also called the hotel before my intended arrival, as I was due to arrive 8 minutes past 10pm. As a single female reaching the hotel late in the evening in unfamiliar territory, I expressed my worry and conveyed that I would greatly appreciate if someone was still on-site just those few extra minutes overtime for me to arrive, in case I had any issues checking in which would result in my being stranded overnight. The lady on the phone sounded sleepy, bored, and completely lacking in empathy or a desire to be of assistance. I can understand the answer being no, but if you work in customer service, you have a duty to at least pretend you care about the person who has paid money to stay at your hotel and taken the risk to trust your services. A little common decency goes a long way.
Finally, the state of the room was appalling. There were many cobwebs, raising the question of when the room had last had a good dusting. The washroom smelled of mold, as has been mentioned by other reviewers. The towels were damp and smelled of urine, and the bed was hard, smelled musty, and had stains on it. The floor was creaky and uneven, and the whole room looked decrepit and creepy. Calling it a 'boutique' hotel is a laugh.
I don't like leaving negative reviews, and have a high tolerance for simple accommodations, as these are what I often rely on while traveling. However, the lack of security, poor customer service, and unhygienic state of this place makes me feel that this review a necessity, to spare other travelers the experience that I had. I sincerely hope the requisite changes are made to make this old site worth preserving.

I am formally notifying Agoda that the property “Green Man” must not be advertised as a boutique hotel. This is misleading and inaccurate information. In reality, it is an old, neglected and partially abandoned building that does not meet the standards stated on your platform.
The room I received was in unacceptable condition: cobwebs on the walls and ceiling, dirty bed linen, damp and dirty towels, an uncleaned shower area, and an unswept floor.
Most importantly, there was no hot water at all. Only ice-cold water was available, making it impossible to wash, shower, or use the room. The room itself was cold.
I immediately contacted the property owner/manager and received no response. Agoda support redirected me back to the property, which does not reply.
The room in this condition is unfit for accommodation, and the service I paid for was not provided. I left the property and will be requesting a full refund.
