    We can only recommend Ban’s resort. We stayed in the Hilltop bungalow, which is really on the hilltop. The steep way up is not fun on foot so we were a little underwhelmed by it at first, but the hotel offers golf cart drop off. We got used to the walk too, as you can admire the beautiful plants everywhere around. The room furnishings were a little older, and we had some ants and a little gecko with us in the bungalow. It was cute but if you don’t like to be this close to wildlife, maybe it’s not the best option. Buffet breakfast was definitely worth it. You eat it looking over the ocean. The staff was always smiling and helpful. There are many pools available in the resort but the beach entrance is also right by the bar that serves the breakfast. Location is great. Walkable to stores, restaurants, even the port, although the hotel offers port shuttle too. We loved it and would come back again.

    We stayed here for a night. The hotel itself was fine for the price - nothing special, but acceptable for a budget stay in Koh Tao. The issue was with pier transport. We paid 300 THB upfront for a private taxi pickup. When it was time to leave, no taxi came. A golf cart showed up instead and took us toward the free public shuttle which we had no choice but to take since our paid ride never arrived. We called the hotel afterward to understand what had happened. That's when it became clear that they had deliberately given us incorrect timings for the free shuttle, presumably to push us toward the paid option. Our paid taxi had simply never shown up, and we'd been misled. We asked for a refund. Their solution? Find a local Thai person, have the hotel transfer money to them, and get that person to pay us cash (FYI they denied paypal refund). We were tourists already on our way to the ferry. This was completely unworkable and frankly absurd. 300 THB is not life changing money but being deliberately misled, left without your paid ride, and then offered an impossible refund process is not okay. Would not recommend.
