Region: Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Bannau Brychein (Brecon Beacons) National Park and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.
Town: Conwy, a UNESCO World History Site, is unquestionably famed for its historical and architectural heritage, yet the town's centre is a hive of activity. There are a variety of specialty stores, restaurants, and motels in addition to the ancient festivals and fairs, musical concerts, galleries, and historical sights. Conwy Castle, designed by Master James of St George and built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, is one of the most spectacular examples of mediaeval military architecture. The narrow rocky ledge on which the castle rests may have influenced its peculiar, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight huge towers, and a magnificent bow-shaped hall.
