Great location near the University, comfortable space with lots good amenities - comfortable shower, kitchen, washer/dryer. Self check-in was easy and straightforward, no hassle.
I was in the basement apartment, which was fine for me but there was a slight smell of damp which I noticed a couple times after returning to the apartment, but it didn't really bother me and it quickly became unnoticable.

Nice location, convenient to the university area, parks, restaurants and food stores; nice walk into town. The room was spotless, warm, with a very comfortable double bed, plush carpet, pretty park and church tower across the street. It is clear that the hotel management are putting effort to make it a pleasant stay and comfortable. It is a period building and different from your typical hotel experience.
Be sure registration is complete and deposit is paid prior to arriving. This is not clear on booking.com. If this is done, you will receive info to check-in and it will be easy. However, I struggled to get the registration to go through online twice, including uploading of ID and had no time to answer the several reminders after that. At £100, the deposit is higher than other hotels. The rep was very helpful to remedy the check-in difficulty when I arrived at 9pm. Also, there is no lift and there were approx 48 steps to get to Room 10, and the bathroom is quirky, very small, basically shower room with a sink and shower in it, functional and charming but a bit strange. The shower had good pressure and warmth.

A great location and easy to get into the room. Clean and quiet.
The stairs down to the room are tricky to navigate with a suitcase. The main issue is the smell of damp in the room, there’s flaking paint on the walls all over the room.
