Close to the riverside, this smoke-free vacation home brings it all within reach. Jump into your car and make short work of the 31-minute drive to Dolomites or the 4-minute drive to Lake Alleghe (and enjoy the property's convenient onsite parking in the meantime).

With the photos and the extremely reasonable price, my husband and I were expecting very rustic--what a wonderful surprise to be greeted by Romani and brought to our very pleasant room with private bathroom down the hall! The decor is retro-Italian (sparkly wall-paper, domestic chandelier in the side room where Romani had laid out cookies and materials for making coffee as a treat), which is a perfect match for the charming town. I can see coming here to stay for a month for an artist retreat--and it was also great for a shorter stay-- so peaceful and warm, with the river running right outside the bedroom window, and the magnificent Dolomites wherever you walk. The area: With a population of only 600 and sprinkles of Italian tourists visiting the mini-Dolomite hike (fun and strenuous!), climbing wall, or local church, it has the feel of a town where you are truly welcomed by the locals. There is a really nice pizzeria right across from the lovely church in Celat and a top-notch restaurant just down the street and walkable from the VRBO, El Ciamin (best meal we had in Italy--plus outdoor garden seating!). Already planning ways to get back here!
