Toll Bar Cottage has had a renovation for 2024 but was originally built to collect money from passing travellers going along the road. It’s a striking stone-built cottage, in an enviable position now offers a refreshed atmosphere featuring a new outdoor patio area equipped with an electric awning providing shade and protection, new beds throughout, an improved kitchen, and freshly installed sofas, providing a renewed experience for guests.
On the ground floor you have the kitchen with a breakfast bar and a separate utility room, leading through into the dining room and the living room. The property benefits from a ground floor double bedroom with an en-suite shower. Then upstairs you have three bedrooms, a double, a twin plus a bunk bedroom. The property is completed with the main bathroom. The location is fabulous. Sandsend is a gorgeous little coastal village, at low tide you have a vast expanse of soft sand stretching for miles. In the village there are some wonderful cafés, a small local shop, a couple of popular seafood restaurants and a surf school. Hot tubs can be hired by guests.
Sandsend is very popular with fisherman, surfers, walkers as well as golfers who visit the golf club perched up on the cliff top opposite Toll Bar Cottage. The North York Moors Railway runs from Whitby to Pickering and stops at some beautiful villages whilst journeying through the vast expanse of the scenic moorland. For family days out there’s lots to do nearby, from Scarborough’s waterpark, Sea Life centre, open air theatre or Oriental gardens with paddle boats. Flamingoland theme park and zoo, Dalby Forest with tree top zip wire trails, or even a traditional day out at the beach perhaps including a donkey ride. Your well-behaved dogs are very welcome to join you, this area is heaven for dogs with an abundance of walks as well as dog friendly pubs and cafés all on your doorstep and even a dog bakery in Whitby! This is a destination you are all sure to love, with the perfectly positioned base to return to. Pub 1 mile.

Perfect location for us, no neighbours. Comfortable house with everything you need and things you didn’t realise you needed. Bus stop right outside for Whitby. WiFi is a bit hit and miss - but it’s probably not the owners fault. Owner came to check in on us to make sure all was okay.Group, 5 people so 4 bedrooms was great. Perhaps an over bath shower could be fitted to the bathroom on the first floor to help with congestion. 😂

We stayed as a family, we loved this cottage ,it's location and amenities were perfect for us.Stunning location,very comfy and clean accommodation, best review I can give is we will be booking it again 😀
