A lovely cottage in a fabulous location, close to plenty of attractions to keep everyone entertained!. Ground Floor:

No smoking.. These beautiful, cosy, semi-detached cottages dates back over 200 years and sits in the best position in the village, right next door to the friendly village pub! This is the perfect getaway for couples, friends or a small family (and their four-legged friends) looking for a lovely village location in the pretty county of Northamptonshire. The cottages boast beams and a master bedroom with an en-suite shower room. Each also has a fully enclosed garden, great for dogs and for enjoying the evening sun on the patio with a glass of wine. The owner provides a soft dog bed, dog towels, water and food bowls and dog treats for any four legged friends visiting. The very friendly village pub next door serves lovely pub food in the evenings and occasionally holds live music events.
Welton village hosts an annual Soapbox Derby where amateur drivers and their dream machines take to the 600 yards downhill racetrack through the village. The Heart of the Shires shopping village with a lovely collection of boutique style shops and tea rooms is just under 4 miles away. The area is well-known for its canal systems with many marinas and narrowboats. The market towns of Daventry, 2½ miles, and Rugby, 7 miles, have an array of high street shops and supermarkets.
There are many outdoor pursuits that can be enjoyed during your stay including a choice of golf courses, Silverstone Race Track and sailing at Draycote Water, Pitsford and Hollowell Reservoirs. Neighbouring Warwickshire is close by where you can discover the castle at Warwick, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, Kenilworth and Royal Leamington Spa. There are many more interesting places to visit including Daventry Country Park just 1 mile away which has a lovely reservoir walk. Daventry itself has market days on Tuesday and Friday, and a farmers’ market once a month. Burton Dassett Hills Country Park is 19 miles and Towcester with its horse racing course is nearby. National Trust properties include Canons Ashby, Farnborough Hall, Upton House and Gardens and Charlecote Park. Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park, and The British Motor Museum are also worth a visit. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant next door.

Stayed 3 nights at Richmond Cottage with my elderly mother and my dog. We were impressed with the welcome pack which included flowers, wine, milk, bread, butter, ground coffee and tea bags.Mother had the downstairs bedroom. The steps down to bathroom and kitchen were deep but she managed. I had the large double bedroom upstairs with its tiny ensuite shower room. The kitchen was well appointed and everything we needed was there and it all worked. The garden is mostly laid to paving but needs a tidy up. I pulled out some of the bigger weeds like thistles. It was fine for the dog to get some air and it was secure, though the only grass at the property is at the front which is open to the car park. There’s a tatty but usable old table and chairs outside, but we hardly used these due to the rain. The TV was easy to use. The central heating was needed as my mother felt cold. I managed to get the heating working. I liked the old beams downstairs. The bedrooms were furnished with seemingly random pieces. Curtains were basic, not blackout and didn’t suit the place at all.The general feel of the place was a bit shabby (in a scruffy not chic way) but it was pretty clean.The first night there was a wedding party at the White Horse pub so it was noisy but the other nights it was quiet. Sunday lunch was great at the pub.Dog bowls, dog bed provided though I brought my own.Parking was fine though some pub car park users were a bit inconsiderate.A disappointment for me was that many footpaths in the area were completely blocked to dogs by fencing in and around the stiles which meant I had to walk my dog on roads and even to get to the canal. Knowing this now I might not stay again unless I was stuck for dog-friendly accommodation in the area. I have relatives living 20 minutes away so the location was otherwise ideal for a short holiday to visit them. My dog seemed to enjoy it - her first holiday cottage!
