Perfect for families and groups of friends who want to relax in the gorgeous Gladheart community in the Texas countryside, Vaughn House is a spacious three-bedroom hideaway that has it all. Newly renovated and updated, Vaughn House welcomes you with a traditional front porch, comfy rocking chairs, and manicured landscaping. Pour yourself a cool drink, have a seat, and stay awhile at Vaughn House— your new home-away-from-home in the Texas Hill Country.
The Space:
In the main living area, cathedral ceilings add an airy feel to the cozy space. A buttery soft leather sofa and armchair face the copper tiled fireplace that holds a large HDTV. The eye-catching, jewel-toned tiles anchor the room and provide a focal point around which to gather together and watch a movie or simply relax and catnap. The leather sofa pulls out to reveal a comfy queen-size bed.
In the open kitchen, a custom, live-edge wood island has casual bar stool seating for six, while the nearby formal dining table can seat six more. Elegant, glossy dark wood cabinets— some with frosted glass inserts— perfectly contrast with the premier suite of stainless steel appliances. Your whole crew will love to linger here while waiting for the coffee to brew in the mornings.
Vaughn House includes three private, peaceful bedrooms— each with a luxurious, memory foam, king-size bed, and an HDTV. The two full bathrooms are elegant and stylish and include memorable details like a vintage claw-foot tub and natural wood vanities.
In the backyard, a sunny, spacious deck is equipped with comfortable lounge furniture. There’s also a spacious hot tub and an outdoor shower. Gather your whole group around the stone fire pit in the evenings, to sip on some locally sourced wine while toasting marshmallows for s’ mores. Guests of Vaughn House also have access to Gladheart community amenities like a game room with a pool table, a ping pong table, and a jukebox. There’s a horseshoe pit and picnic tables, too. The restaurants and shops of downtown Fredericksburg are only a short drive away.
Things to Note:
-There are outdoor cats on the property that you may encounter during your stay.
-In Texas, there are periods of time without significant rainfall causing the county of Gillespie to place a ban on burning. Please check the current burn ban status, before using the fire pit at a Fredericksburg area vacation rental.
- Utilize the designated parking spaces at your vacation rental.
-Place all trash in designated containers.
- Please be aware that the Texas Hill Country can experience high heat and drought during the summer, which can attract pests to the exterior lights at night. Our properties receive extermination, but guests may encounter pests such as cockroaches, mosquitoes, flies, Rolly Pollies (pill bugs), June bugs, small ants, and spiders, as well as occasional scorpions and small rodents. These are normal critters that come regardless of cleanliness or availability of food.
Guest Access:
✅ This property has special local compliance requirements which include a signed rental agreement, ID verification, and a security hold of $1000 (which is not a traditional security deposit, just a pending transaction). As an optional alternative to the security hold, you may opt in to purchase a non-refundable damage waiver provided by a third-party insurance company. The optional damage waiver is $53 for stays up to 10 nights, with an additional $1.5 per day for stays longer than 10 nights. Damage waiver purchases are optional.

The listing really isn't accurate at all. The ZZ Top game room is not just for The Vaughn House, but for all the other tiny homes on property as well. The location in regards to town was good, & the game room was fun. However, if anyone in your group is balance challenged due to Neuropathy or say a recent knee replacement - better keep looking elsewhere as nothing on the property is ADA compliant. No handrails on any stairs to get into house. There are 2 bathrooms, but both appear to be afterthought & are not in the bedrooms as on-suites,but at the back door back to back. Also the lighting is very dark, unless you're in the one with tub that has a couple of windows. The toilets in both rooms are for small children & were difficult to get down to and up off of, especially for older folks. No hand rails anywhere, including bathrooms. The road into house is a dirt road that is washed out, also very narrow & hard to have 2 vehicles on road at same time to pass ea other. Check in instructions need a little updating but management company will send texts & emails checking on you but didn't call me back when I called right after arrival asking for the outdoor chair cushions as the "lean-to" shed was no where to be found. Bottom line, we has a great time with some great friends, but we always do in Fred. However, after the last 8 years of making trips here this "house" was a big disappoinment compared to all other places we've stayed. But we are in our 60's & expect more.
