Kitchen is perfect for keen cooks. It’s really well equipped with super oven. Living area is open plan, so you can be in kitchen but still be part of conversations. Very comfortable bedrooms and great showers. Spectacular views.

Loved everything.

Incredible location! The house had everything you could possibly need for a perfect staycation, the kitchen was the absolute highlight. Check-in was seamless and everything was well-organized ahead of time. The property was much larger than we expected, and access to the beach was super easy. Waking up to the majestic sea view each morning was an absolute highlight!

It would’ve been nice to have a cleaner come in one of the days

Everything exceeded my expectations. Our host Patricia was warm, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Kieran, the owner, sent a very informative document that included the history of the land, his family and things to do in the area. It was so well thought out and we appreciated him sharing this information with us. The instructions do say to bring your own items (and we did) but the house is well stocked. I do recommend bringing dishwasher tablets/washing up liquid and laundry detergent. The kitchen has almost everything you can think of and multiples of everything. Pots, pans, bowls, tableware, plastic ware, you name it. The only thing I can think of that I used of my own was the oven mitts. This house is clearly used for entertainment as it has everything you can need. The grill was also set up and all ready for us to use so we had a great evening grilling and sitting out on the patio for dinner. I did a click and collect order in the Kenmare SuperValu on the way down and that covered most of the necessities we needed all week. Don’t forget to bring your own bags! The 4 bedrooms were spacious, clean and comfy. We had plenty of room and privacy from each other if we wanted it. The four bedroom bathrooms were also very nice. The bathroom off the kitchen in the utility was small but was all that was needed and was handy to have. There is a picnic blanket that we used for the garden and brought down to the beach. The beach is very rocky but we had our sandals and water shoes so it was no issue. The cove is perfect for swimming in. The beach is a very, very short walk away from the house. Helens Bar is only a few minutes down the road so we spent a late afternoon turned evening on the pier there for dinner and drinks. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We also did the Naked Alpaca trekking trail experience, Derreen Gardens and Kenmare waterpark, kayaking and boat tour. I recommend all of these activities as well!

There was only one towel per person and no beach towels so a few extra towels would be handy. While communicating with our host was excellent, trying to get in touch with Sykes Cottages was a nightmare before the trip. I had some general enquiries about items to bring and I couldn’t get a response on this platform, email or Instagram. After several days I finally got a generic sign up for an account on Sykes cottages website. Even after doing that none of my questions were answered. Thankfully it was nothing like having the pleasure of dealing with Patricia!
