Despite bad first impressions the stay was fairly nice, albeit basic. The location is the main benefit, being 3 mins from the waterfront. The kitchen was well equipped and the room had great air-con. Piran itself is stunning.
As a couple travelling around Europe this was a very expensive stay for very little. All the bathrooms are on the ground floor. Be warned the walls are stupid thin and the stairs are very creaky so expect to be woken up and disturbed by neighbours. There is also very limited warm water so you have to fight the other residents for a shower. We essentially had no warm water for the first two days. The bedrooms would benefit from a mirror and private sink.
We also had the issue of being unable to lock our bedroom door from within because of old hinges. We only managed by placing a padlock over the door latch from inside. Not excellent for safety or security.
