Spacious, warm, comfortable house in its own large, grassy grounds with simply spectactular, sweeping views from the sitting room, kitchen, conservatory and balcony (see photos looking over the fence). The house looks directly over the end of sea loch studded with islands, with views right across to the mainland. You can sit in the conservatory, even with the wind howling outside, and feel part of it all. It proved to be an ideal, central base from which to explore all parts of Lewis and Harris - we had comfortable day trips exploring up to the Butt of Lewis and down to Leverburgh via the amazing beaches at Luskaintir. Plus it's only a few miles from Stornaway with its Tesco and Coop supermarkets. There is a local store and fuel at nearby Cameron Terrace. I had my sea kayak and my husband his road bike, so we both also appreciated the hose in the garden for rinsing gear and the washing line for drying. We only had one car but there was lots of space for parking. Dog-owners might want to note that there are sheep grazing around two sides of the property. The local bus runs into Stornoway from 5 minutes walk away (used by one of our party, with bus timetables thoughtfully provided by our host).

Everything about the property met our requirements and exceeded expectations. It was extremely well stocked, from washing powder to cleaning equipment, even dressing gowns. In fact, the property provided extras that weren’t even mentioned in the description, such as a dvd player (with a great variety of dvd’s too), games, books and binoculars to to take in the fabulous views outside. The additional tourist information was very helpful and the owner was very quick to respond to any questions, with the offer to contact his father who lived locally if needed.
