We rented the whole casa vacanze (vacation home), consisting of a large kitchen on the ground floor and two bedrooms (with sleeping room for four) and a bathroom on the upper floor, for two nights. This is an old-fashioned place, but everything was clean, workable, and in good repair. Its designed for families who are on vacation. We arrived before the usual check-in time but were introduced to the host, Paolo, a local businessman with several different enterprises in the village, by accident when he was repairing an umbrella stand across the street from a shop where we were examining some wares. He very kindly turned immediately to getting us settled in the Casa vacanze Torre dell'orologio, which is literally part of the town wall next to the gate containing the clock tower (Torre dell'orologio). This help was vital, because our car (containing our luggage) was not allowed to be driven through the gate and (uphill) into the town. No matter: our host drove his car to our car (some distance away), put the luggage into his car, drove his car to the casa vacanze, and carried our luggage upstairs! Along the way, he showed us where we could park our car more conveniently. This is just to show what kind and helpful people our hosts were. As it happened, we did not need a whole casa vacanze, but when we booked, we thought we would be a group of three. At the last minute, the third person dropped out, but we decided not to change the booking. The price for the space was anyway quite reasonable. Our stay at the Casa vacanze Torre dell'orologio was very comfortable, and when it was time to leave, we had no trouble dealing with our luggage as the walk to our car (10 minutes) was all down hill. Our keys could be left on the kitchen table.
The Casa vacanze Torre dell'orologio had one major downside which was that it lacked an internet connection. This I didn't expect, and it was a major inconvenience for me. However, it was my fault entirely that I overlooked this disadvantage. The description of the property on Booking.com was correct and in no way misleading. It's likely that an Italian family on vacation is more concerned with cooking than with an internet connection, and anyway they all use smart phones.
