Let down with continental breakfast no real choice of anything?

Visited the Riva on Valentine’s night , asvertised as boutique , I wouldn’t say it was to be honest. It was nice enough , rooms very small and toilet small, location is good right on the front looking out to the water , though our room looked onto the back. Our window was open on arrival and the smell of cooking fat from the chippy next door was awful , so we closed it. Could have been doing with opening it during the night as the room was so hot even though the heater was off. Continental breakfast consisted of boxes of cereal , bread , yoghurts, some fruit , babybel cheese and couple slices of salami. Not great for a Boutique hotel. Be warned the bar closes at 10.00 pm sharp as its a ‘hotel’ , which is very early we thought. Staff were nice but wouldn’t return as very over priced . We paid £*** for a king sized room but was not worth it. Very overpriced for what you get. Better off with the Travelodge at half the price.

A lovely hotel, in a great location, but seriously understaffed. We visited for a weekend and were initially impressed by the hotel. It looks good and has a cool vibe to it throughout. But, seriously disappointed in a number of areas. Basic requests, such as needing a TV remote, took over 24 hours. Lack of breakfast provision, is not acceptable. These issues, and others, could have been addressed very easily with adequate staffing. As a case in point, after our stay I contacted the hotel with a list of concerns prior to writing a review. Still awaiting any reply. If they can get service sorted then a great place, but until then I would be cautious.
