Abbaye Notre-Dame du Vivier - Le Bief du Vivier

A beautiful location with a wonderful restaurant on site. The photos on this website do not do the location justice. The people at the restaurant were so helpful and friendly the place for full and the owner managed to get us a table. It’s really nice you can have drinks overlooking the abbey and then head inside for food, the place is full of locals. It’s fully booked on a weekend which is always a good sign. It’s lively to have breakfast with the highland cows and you can hear the stream surrounding the property. A very memorable stay.

Het was redelijk vuil. Het was ook redelijk koud terwijl het buiten een aangename temperatuur was.

We would like to start on a positive note: the stay had a unique location in a valley surrounded by beautiful nature and the abbey. In other words, the property has a lot of potential. However, we were quite disappointed by the hygiene upon arrival. We found hair in the shower and on the sheets, as well as insects and dust. It seemed as though the property hadn’t been cleaned in a while, which immediately took away the joy of what was meant to be a relaxing family weekend. After informing our host—who was friendly—we noticed that only the bathroom was cleaned somewhat afterward. For a weekend that cost €800, we expected to arrive in a clean environment and not have to start our holiday by cleaning ourselves. Our young toddler couldn't safely crawl on the floor, which was particularly frustrating. It feels like our standards of cleanliness are clearly different.
