Stunning setting, super accommodation and lovely staff.

Everything was fabulous.

We loved the space and safety of the estate. Lots for a small family to do to entertain themselves. The woodland walks were excellent. The location is also central for alot of travel around the area.

Not a negative, but as we booked midweek and off-season, the cafe was not open for food. To counter this, the estate provided free tea & coffee making facilities with takeaway cups, from the cafe location. (In addition to those in our accommodation) This is just a note to be aware if travelling outside of the busy summer season.

Being able to walk around the gardens when tourists have gone home. Comfortable beds and log burner in cottage. Very peaceful. Would recommend

The estate grounds are beautiful, old tudor house. great flower gardens, arboretum and woodland walks. The wood fired stove in the living room of our cottage was a nice touch (the only heating in the cottage). The staff were friendly and approachable. Being able to buy firewood at the visitors centre was handy and good value. Courtyard with outside tables, if weather was good.

We were unlucky, the weather really was poor for the week we were there which may have coloured our impression of our accomodation. We found the property surprising small. A galley kitchen just inside the front door, with access to toilet directly off same. The downstairs living room is also very small. The bed mattresses were just OK, and would appear a bit dated. I had to put a towel under the bed sheet to soften the springs on my mattress. The place just seemed a bit basic, cramped and not overly homely. The other cottages for rent, next door to us may have been bigger.
