Villa Roussa is a charming traditional stone built Cretan house with its own private swimming pool that is ideal for both family holidays or as a romantic hideaway for couples. Offering views over open countryside and is set in the peaceful village of Maza, in the foothills of the White Mountains of North Western Crete.
Villa Roussa has been restored by its village owner who has decorated and furnished it beautifully. Its idyllic rural location makes an ideal base for those wanting a taste of village life with the local cafenion five minutes walk away offering a choice of traditional dishes and village wine.
Within a 20 minute drive away are nearby beaches, tavernas and shops at Georgioupolis and the freshwater Lake Kournas which offers swimming, pedalos and a choice of restaurants. The historic harbour towns of Rethymnon and Chania are also easy striking distance. Downstairs this stone-built family house has beamed ceilings and tiled floors. The kitchen with washing machine leads through a traditional archway into the living room with TV/DVD, and a Cretan fireplace. There is a bathroom with shower.
Upstairs has beamed ceilings and wooden floors. There is a double bedroom, twin bedroom and a family bathroom with bath. The upstairs balcony runs continuously along two sides of the building and provides ample room to sit or sunbathe with breathtaking views across open countryside and access from each of the bedrooms via French windows.
There is a third double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower, downstairs accessed by a separate entrance.
Outside there is a large patio area with pergola ideal for al fresco dining in front of the house, beneath the shade of the tree or beside the pool.
