Absolutely lovely location and cute little cottage

I had let the people know we would arrive between 4 and 5. We arrived at 4.10 with no one answering the door. I had to ring them to be told they had gone out and wouldn't be back for half an hour! I was told the door was open with key inside. We let ourselves in which was fine. Just strange that they would go out when they knew we would be arriving between 4-5pm. This is not a complaint just an observation.
It was good to have parking but this was to the side of a driveway. We could not park outside the cottage, we could drive through gate to unpack but could not leave the car there. The driveway was narrow so you could not turn round, reversing out on to a main road was not an option. It was noted you could go through the gate to turn round but this was a bit of a hassle with chickens on the loose. Would have preferred to park car next to cottage, there was enough room for this.
Just one thing missing in the kitchen a pyrex dish/casserole dish for cooking a pasta bake in but otherwise everything there.

This was perfect. Great location for exploring the sites we were after - Longleat, Wookey Hole, Cheddar. Handy for Shepton Mallet as a lovely town to explore and supermarket. Lovely 15 mins walk to the Poachers Pocket for food. The hosts were lovely, helpful and friendly. All the facilities you could think of. Cute chickens in the yard and a tortoise in the garden. Even though not for everyone the steep stairs up to the main bedroom were fun. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The accomodation itself was quaint and nicely designed. The kitchen was well supplied(except no bin bags). Nice touches of childrens toys and dvd supply. Chickens and climbing frame were cute
Internet was pointless. Showed as connected, couldnt load a thing which was frustrating as also no phone signal.
Maybe fault of our own but we didnt realise the property was on the owners grounds so you felt penned in. Livingroom window thin curtains facing owners office and where they came and parked their cars, didnt feel private at all. The book of information felt impersonal with a list of rules. Minimal engaging with the owners which we usually prefer but due to the wording in the books of rules,we just felt a little bit like a nuisance on their land as opposed to welcome guests.
