About this house rental
The RupeSuiSassi holiday home welcomes you to Matera, formerly a UNESCO heritage site for its Sassi and now the European Capital of Culture 2019. We have chosen to transform our house into a holiday home to welcome the many travelers who wish to visit Matera with its Sassi and the surrounding area, rich in natural and historical-artistic beauties of prehistoric origins, of traditions and legends stratified over time, of products and typical dishes like bread. Entering the house you will feel enveloped in a muffled dimension thanks to the visible tuff vault, the handmade terracotta bricks floor, the majolica tiles. You will then be projected into a surreal dimension thanks to the breathtaking view that can be enjoyed from the terrace of the Sassi kitchen and in front of the Parco della Murgia Materana. The apartment is on two levels with two double bedrooms (each on one level and one of the two can be double) and two bathrooms (each adjacent to the bedroom). Upon entering there is a large open space with a living room equipped with a comfortable sofa bed that can accommodate two more people and a kitchen made entirely of masonry with colored majolica tiles. The kitchen is equipped with everything (pots, dishes, dishwasher, coffee machine, etc.). In the house there is also a washing machine and free wifi. The apartment cannot be reached by car because it is located in a small alley where cars are not allowed to circulate, which are left in a street a few meters from the house. To reach the structure, moreover, there are some stairs to climb that you will also find at the entrance to the apartment. After this short and pleasant walk that already immerses you in the spirit of the silence of the Sassi, you can admire the beauty of the house and the landscape it offers.

We absolutely loved this place! The view was incredible, and it had everything we needed. It was very easy to access, which is not the case for many places in Matera. Easy parking nearby, but a 5 minute walk to the main part of the old city.

View to Matera from the balcony was amazing. The property has no air conditioning and it was 40C/100F while we were there so it was warm. There were two fans and the lower bedroom was cool enough to sleep. Location was great for walking anywhere. Matera is beautiful and amazing, but I would avoid June through August in future.

While this location may be a five or 10 minute walk from the center and shops, it affords the best view in the entire city!
There is nice paid parking structure within 300 meters.
The apartment is spacious Terrace spectacular.

The view and location were second to none. Perfect spot for exploring Matera. The apartment is old and dated (which was not unexpected), but left lots to be desired in terms of cleanliness and attention (towels and linens were threadbare and ancient, kitchen sponge should be replaced between guests, etc). There was also a lot of mould in the laundry room which was a real disappointment.
