In the heart of Meursault, this tasteully modernised and renovated hotel is an excellent base for an exploration of Burgundy's wine district. Dinner in the restaurant was a delight, excellent cooking, well presented and very fairly priced, while the wine list offered everything you'd hope for, given the location. Even the art on the walls was pleasant to look at (the owner, I was told, used to have an art gallery). My room was comfortable and well-equipped, including a bathroom with spacious walk-in shower. Perhaps the best of it was the helpfulness of the staff. I arrived there by accident, having been towed to the local garage with a blown out a tyre. In the morning the duty manager gave me a lift back to the garage, saving me a wintry half-hour walk. Kindness beyond the call of duty.
