Pear Tree Cottage

The quiet location of the house is ideal for all aspects of Bowness and only 5 mins walk to Lake Windermere, or the social centre of Bowness. Having off street parking next to the house was a real bonus and we felt the car was safe there. Inside the cottage was comfortable and homely. The kitchen is well equipped and perfect for a self catering couple or young family. All rooms are a comfortable size and felt welcoming. The heating was excellent! We would not hesitate to book this house again if we were to return to the area and would look for its availability first!

We thought WIFI was included with the booking, but could not make it work, we were however offered the chance to buy a wifi service form EE at quite an expensive rate!...(we declined). Be aware, the mobile signal in the Lakes area seemed generally very poor and unreliable for us. The only thing about the cottage we found disappointing was the size and layout of the bathroom. located upstairs the room is small but has an extra large shower cubicle which makes the toilet and sink area rather cramped. Dare i say this may be troublesome to a "larger" visitor...or someone with limited mobility. That said, it worked fine for us and we understand the limitations of upgrading an older property.

Lovely little cottage, very well equipped and clean with everything you could need and in a great location. Parking space a big bonus too.

The stairs are really steep. Think if you had disabilities or small children may be a problem.

Terrible host and poor communication from cottages.com. I requested a cot from them weeks in advance of the stay and had no reply. When I phoned a few days beforehand I was charged for renting one. The property's welcome pack said it was included for free. I have since pointed this out and am still waiting on a refund. Any follow up emails haven't been replied to. Because of this really substandard communication, I wouldn't rent a property from cottages.com again.
