About this villa rental
This spacious 300-year-old farmhouse has bags of character. The owners have cleverly added touches of modern luxury in the bathrooms and kitchen, while the original terracotta floors, stone walls, high ceilings, exposed beams and scattered antiques speak of history. Casa Tognarello will easily absorb up to eight guests, its large rooms, terraces and private pool offering parties of family or friends the chance to gather or chill out separately, as moods dictate.
It will be genuinely difficult to stir from this house and substantial garden, with its pool and views of surrounding mountainous terrain, but medieval Lucca and Barga are close by, with Pisa less than an hour’s drive. If your party is more activity orientated, the beach and carnival at Viareggio are also within easy reach; or choose from local walking, cycling, tennis (Lucca) or golf (Massarosa). In the heat, the house is delightfully cool. Two terraces, both with table and chairs, offer alternatives for outdoor dining in a balmy evening breeze. As the summer wanes, an open fireplace in the lounge beckons.
Casa Tognarello’s beautiful rooms and rural setting offer a holiday that will live in the memory for a lifetime. Where else will you find an artwork made from a 1951 Moto Guzzi motorbike on the bathroom wall, together with an exquisite antique side table and bookcase of literature? An elderly person lives next door whose cats you are likely to see, but this will not affect your privacy. You are welcome to help yourself to fruit from the garden.
