The Hotel is fine. The staff awesome and the location perfect.
It is located close to the center. Actually the whole city looks like a huge center and Lyon is just beautiful.
I have read a lot of comments about the neighborhood not being safe or something, but all due respect to the other guests ...not even close. It is just a multicultural area but in a good way, the whole area is beautiful and the streets are clean.
It takes some time for a stranger to get used to the way you need to use the public transportation, but when you do so, then you find out it is not that complicated and you can move easily from point to point. The only problem with the city, if you're a Mediterranean (...or a Latino) trust me, is the food. The people here eat really early! They live in a different way, but of course we have to adapt to their lifestyle, we are the visitors. But that has nothing to do with the Hotel.
Also, the Hotel must have been a classy one, like 30 years ago, but still looks nice. The room was clean and really warm. The bathroom was renovated and comfortable. The breakfast could be a 5 star hotel breakfast, also very good. I am a receptionist myself and I can tell it's worth it. It's a descent place to stay and the price is fair.
Thank you!

Reception and helpful staff
forced late check out fee, we only came to the hotel to sleep - we arrived at 2am at night, so we wanted to get at least a few hours of sleep, they let us out at 11.45

The place is good for the price,
Pros: Staff is very attentive, room was clean and organized, and a very close walking distance to great places and old town we didn't have to take the bus or anything to discover that part.
If you have a late departure by your train or airplane after your check-out, they have a baggage room so you can go amd enjoy a bit more before departing (there's no lock or special rack to secure the bags, everyone put them all together in the same place and you just open the door when you're going to pick them up)
Tip: they offer a $10 breakfast, it's good, but there's also a nice cafeteria 2 blocks away which offers also good food.
Cons:
If you arrive too late, the hotel is located 2 blocks away from a very not looking area and reported pick pockets we never went to that side (not related to the hotel but something to consider)
The air-conditioning in our room didn't work, on previous comments they said they're doing some renovations, that's all good, but the amenities should be updated when they are ready to be used. In conclusion the place has AC but doesn't work.
It's a bit noisy when people arrives late, you can hear the elevator, people opening doors and entering rooms.

Nothing
Rooms are old and dirty. The tv is very old and works only sometimes. The room is cold and it wasn’t even winter. The water was cold and only on the second day it was warmer, but then you need to wait around ten-twenty minutes for the water to heat. And this, I had to figure out on my own since the employees, specially the girl in the morning with the dark hair, are very unprepared and a bit rude.
