La Locanda Volpaia

The property is in a beautiful spot overlooking vineyards and the village of Volpaia. Kali is a wonderful host who provided us with everything we could need.

The property is somewhat isolated, on a gravel road with nothing really close.

Great location. Super charming and romantic. Deep in the nature. Lots of tranquility. Great details in the venue and the room. Super friendly owners.

It’s all great really. Minor detail was that it would have been nice to have a coffee machine in the room, to have an early coffee in the balcony.

I liked everything about this stay. The location is fantastic, the hosts were very helpful and accomodating (even helping out with restaurant bookings). The facilities (although we did not use the pool due to cooler weather) are very well kept and maintained.

The access road to the location was gravel road and not well serviced. We were informed by the hosts about the this.. but it can be quite tricky in some areas. this would not stop me from going back.

The accommodation is stunning: clean rooms, amazing views, great breakfast, and a lovely pool.

However, the access road is rough, unpaved, and full of potholes—recommended only for higher-clearance cars. The main problem is the horseflies: they are everywhere and very aggressive. I was bitten and had a strong allergic reaction, luckily I started recovering without needing a doctor. Even with repellent, it’s hard to enjoy being outside. Great for the views and accommodation, but be prepared for insects and a difficult road. The location is isolated, about 11 km (approx. 22 minutes by car) from Radda in Chianti. Conclusion: the location and accommodation are stunning, but for anyone sensitive to insects or with medical concerns, the presence of horseflies and the difficult access road should be seriously considered.
