Exceptionally clean. Extremely helpful hosts.

An Excellent, filling breakfast of both hot and cold foods. Some days we ate a lot, sometimes less. The staff and owner were always pleasant, helpful, and for both us and other guests, they were willing to prepare early breakfast to accommodate our schedules for travel. Our room was comfortable, light, and cheerfully decorated. There was plenty of room for our luggage. Dounby is centrally located on Mainland so all the attractions are a reasonable driving distance. The village has a grocery, gas pump, post office, and charming craft store with cards, art, jewelry, and woolens. Dounby is also on a bus line. Smithfield also has off street parking for guests.

This is a minor point as we had rented a car, and had seen Smithfield as a B&B. Smithfield in the past also operated as a cafe and pub, but these aren’t open for 2026.

Our room was lovely & the lounge was very nice. The owners were so nice & very helpful. Breakfast was delicious!

Good Scottish breakfast. Location is in the middle of Orkney

Small rooms. village has one grocery store else little.
