Smallish room with furniture a little bit outdated

The staff at Reception were exceptionally helpful and friendly. My room was spacious and very quiet (I had requested a quiet room). We only had breakfast on a couple of days due to the added expense, but it was excellent. The location is brilliant on the Promenade des Anglais with plenty of bus and tram stops around and a pleasant walk to the old town and shops. Despite my comments about what I didn't like, I want to be clear that I was very happy with my stay overall and would happily recommend or stay again.

I felt that the cleaning of the bedroom and bathroom was a bit 'random'. The same hair was in the same position on the bathroom floor throughout my stay. Not a terrible problem, but an indication that the floor had not perhaps been cleaned. The tiling in the bathroom was not finished to the standard I would expect of a 4 star hotel. I had a rather frustrating conversation with the night Receptionist on one occasion when I phoned down after having a shower to ask her to see if I had left my bottle of Evian water (purchased in a shop) in the lobby area. I felt she was not understanding me (I can't claim to speak more than elementary French so spoke mostly in English) and, sure enough, she had a new bottle of water delivered to my room which was charged to me. They were very good about deducting it from the bill.

Booked a junior suite, so you would expect better facilities - not at all. The shower was useless. It didn't hold itself in the shower holder as that was broken, so you had to hold the shower head. The water pressure was almost non existant. The window in the bathroom didn't even have a blind so anyone could see in via neighbouring buildings. Was told that they needed pre-authorisation of credit card in case we wanted to use the Bar - WHAT BAR??? Walked into the restaurant thinking that was where the Bar was, and told to sit in lounge area and someone would come to serve us. After waiting no one came, so went to the hotel a couple of minutes away. They were very good. One bottle of "complimentary" water in the room when we arrived - between two of us. We thought they would replace ech day at least; no that bottle was supposed to last us the whole of the stay.
