This hotel is in an excellent location directly opposite the theatre. We opted for a superior room which was very spacious. The view from our balcony was very nice although scaffolding alongside was a bit of an eyesore The staff were very helpful and the breakfast very pleasant There was no kettle in the room which was a disappointment Overall we enjoyed our stay

We stayed over during Christmas, the location is perfect especially if you get a room with a view of the river. Beds were comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. We appreciate the classic ambience and decor of the hotel, everything seemed to fit in. If you like modern and contemporary this is probably not the place for you. The reading room with the fireplace is a highlight. In terms of the negatives of our stay, we found the breakfast very expensive for what is on offer, 31 euro per person for essentially a modest buffet style breakfast with only eggs made to order. Room didn't have tea or coffee facilities and we were charged 5 euros for a cap of boiled water and tea bag to take up to our room. Much cheaper hotels provide that for free either in the room or downstairs in the communal area. Finally the reading room was open to the public. What is the point of paying ***£ + per night for a hotel when I have to share a cozy space like that with big groups of noisy non guests. Also the communal areas downstairs closed after a certain time in the evening so there wasn't really anywhere to hang out in the hotel apart from your room. Most hotels for that price range offer access to a shared space 24/7.
