Boschendal Farm Estate

Beautiful setting, great family home.

Slightly far away from the deli and restaurant.

Great nature and scenery, drivers were great and polite. Room was clean and cozy.

Cold pool, not much to do apart from tree house, wine and just being around the nature but that’s what farms are for. Checkout is too early at 10 am sharp, we had a night flight and wanted a late check out but they offered a very expensive rate (1500 zar per hour) meaning 3 hours are already equivalent to a full day stay. Not justified or helpful from their side. We travel a lot and we usually get a standard checkout at 12 pm and staff usually extend us till 1 pm, not here apparently.

The cottage was cosy and had a real fire (it was chilly while we were there). The pool area was quiet and secluded We were able to explore the estate and gardens on our own and stay away from the crowds

The downside of staying on a wine estate is that some people drink too much and make it unpleasant for other guests

The staff member who assisted us at check-in and accompanied us on the property tour was extremely polite and very kind.

We felt that the photos on Booking do not accurately reflect the property. For example, the picture of the pool near the chalets and cabins looks completely different on the website. Online, it appears to be a clear blue pool, but when we arrived, it looked brown, and at first we did not even recognize it as a pool. The breakfast was also disappointing. We found it very limited, with few options and an extremely restricted schedule. The breakfast window was very short — not even two hours. After about an hour and a half, service would already stop. For a place meant for vacations, especially for families with children, having such a short and rigid breakfast schedule felt unreasonable. We had to set an alarm just to make sure we would be able to eat. Another negative point is that all the activities are located in the lower part of the property. From the chalets, you need to drive or request the hotel van every time. Nothing is within walking distance, which makes everything less convenient. Because of that, we ended up skipping most of the activities and barely participated in any of them.
