Stayed for one single night along with my wife, as part of a wider Scotland 'touring trip'. Pros: The room was clean and tidy, and the hotel, whilst having aspects that were 'old', in fact reflect the character of what is actually a late 1700's Grand Hotel. The building was therefore spacious, and the "Cronies Bar" (it's bar and lounge area), was also very elegant, cosy and a great place to do some work on the laptop. The staff we interacted with were also friendly and helpful. The cons: Our room, being in the older part of the hotel, had zero phone signal. Worse though, the advertised free hotel WiFi didn't cover our room either. Whilst some might enjoy the sense of being "off grid", I had a number of matters I had to sort out for my elderly father back home during our stay, and this made it hugely difficult indeed. If I were to stay again (see below), I would insist on a room with the advertised free WiFi, or refuse to stay. Finally, the radiator in our room threw out reasonable heat when I turned it up on arrival in the afternoon. But through the night it did not come on despite being set to full. And it was a cold early February night in Stirling. This is one of those things that cannot be fixed 'after the event'. Once you find it's not working through the night, it's then too late for the staff to be able to help, if it's a one night only stay. Would I return? Maybe/Probably, if it was a good deal price again. But I'd insist on a room with WiFi (or near the front with phone signal), as well as having working heating. I doubt I'd return on a full price booking however. I suspect we'll be back at some point though, albeit I'll be sure to cover the negative points outlined above before booking or taking possession of the room keys. (The free hotel car park is handy to have, in such a busy town centre too, but leaves a fair bit to the imagination too - it's a dark, dirty, soil and worn tarmac affair, that means your shoes and luggage wheels will be messy, be advised - but at least it has one. There's not a lot of easy parking right in the town centre otherwise).

Great location within walking distance to the castle. Bigger room than expected. The bar and breakfast area were very good.

Only 8 mins walk from Stirling station to the hotel, location is definitely a point for considering this hotel. That was my 2nd visit in the same week, this time I feel better, because the room facilities had no problem, but still no in-room wifi and very bad connection even in 4G network. No electric socket available near the bed, lights are barely sufficient.
