Mas de la Granette

Verbleven hier voor de tweede keer en was wederom perfect! Mooi en gezellig ingerichte appartementen, met eigen tuin, keuken, en veel privacy. De locatie is ideaal. Op steenworp afstand van Aix en Provence maar heel rustig en landelijk gelegen. Gisèle is een fantastische gastvrouw, we werden weer heel hartelijk ontvangen. Komen heel graag weer terug.

The apartment had a nice exterior where you could sit during the day but not after dusk as there were mosquitoes. It had a functioning dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine etc but very few supplies for these. The showers room was very nice. The gardens were very nice and the swimming pool was good and kept very clean.

Firstly, this is not a ‘cottage’ nor is it standalone. It is a very small apartment fixed to the main house where the host family live. There are two other rented out places so the pool is definitely not private as advertised. The apartment is also not that comfortable and as you have to sit inside in the evening with the windows closed, it wasn’t that relaxing as the sofa is small. The dining area is very small as kitchen, dining and seating area are all in a small room. There were no views as the outside area closes off the sun and you feel shut in. It was expensive for what it was and added to that at the last minute we were asked for 300 euros cash deposit for damages which we were allowed to pay by bank transfer. We did get this back but lost money in the transfer as we are English and we didn’t need a lot of cash.

Sehr ruhiges Anwesen. Die Gastgeber wohnten mit Hund auf dem Gelände und man merkte davon nichts. Bei Bedarf war Kontakt kein Problem. Sehr stilvoll und mit bedacht eingerichtet.

The pool was nice and refreshing

Unfortunately we stayed during a heatwave. It was unbearably hot and simply impossible to sleep upstairs under the roof. Mosquito infested and no nets to keep them out anywhere not even in the small windows upstairs. Eventually we rented a hotel room with Air-conditioning in a hotel nearby and commuted a bit between the two. The host kept repeating that she couldn't help or provide any solution other than let the cold in at night (and the mosquitos?) and close the house during the day. But not once did she suggest any of the hotels nearby. I have traveled quite a bit and believe the host needs to be more guest oriented. It's not only about the money. Considering heat waves will repeat more frequent the place simply needs some air-co unit or an emergency arrangement with hotels in the area.
