About this cottage rental
A large, five bedroom house in a superb location, a stone's throw from the beach, with fantastic sea views and private parking for one car located in the heart of this lovely seaside village it's ideal for large families or groups of friends.
Ground Floor
The property comprises a glass entrance porch - great for beach equipment - which leads to the kitchen, which has a gas range cooker, dishwasher, tall fridge-freezer and microwave; there is also a utility room that provides more storage plus a washing machine and tumble dryer.
From the hallway is a dining room with seating for up to ten people - plus a good size beach-facing sitting room with a wood burning stove that is perfect to curl up in front during the cooler months, with TV/DVD and a bay window with window seat. A lovely spot to sit and watch the sea. This ground floor also has a cloakroom/WC.
First Floor
To the first floor are three bedrooms - the front, beach-facing bedroom is a double bedroom with hand wash basin and fabulous views out to sea. There is also a twin bedroom with two 3' single beds and a hand wash basin plus a second double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with bath, shower over, WC and hand wash basin. This floor also has a house shower room with shower, WC and hand wash basin plus an additional separate WC with hand wash basin.
Second Floor
To the second floor are two twin bedrooms, each with a hand wash basin, with sea views from the Velux windows.

Town: The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, with its superb coastline and close proximity to the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.

Really lovely family break away. The location of this house is perfect. We used the pub just over the bridge for our first evening meal and used both cafés for breakfast both mornings and the fish cottage next door all were fantastic. The house is lovely but as previous reviews have suggested it is very tired and could really do with some things looking at. The decor is very tired. There is plaster coming off the walls, one of the sofas in the lounge is broken, the downstairs toilet light didn’t work so this could not be used once it was dark. The stairs up to the third floor bedrooms (which are all single beds) was difficult to access for the older family members and is slippery so definitely bring rubber soled slippers/shoes. The fridge freezer also could do with a really good clean. None of this spoilt out time away it was really lovely but improvements really do need to be considered for the price paid.

The house had not been cleaned.We had to ring the emergency number, but overall communication was poor. Someone came just as we were about to book into a hotel. She made up some beds for us and found a cot.... for our now fractious 9 month old baby! The place was not clean. Someone else came the next day to hoover up, but didnt bring cleaning materials. She did clean the kichen floor when asked. There was other guests rubbish left in the kichen and in some of the bins. And even condoms in one of the bedrooms!! We were not happy to say the least. I have emailed Sykes and raised a complaint. Someone has tried to ring me today to discuss.

We had such a fabulous weekend in Sandsend which we have totally fallen in love with. The property was lovely and I will so miss sitting in the bay window breathing in that stunning view. The teens had great fun learning to surf in Saltburn and the ladies loved exploring the quaint surroundings and shops in Staithes, Saltburn, Whitby and Sandsend. Hope to return
